About heicopen.com

A simple, private tool for turning iPhone HEIC photos into JPG files.

What this site does

heicopen.com converts HEIC and HEIF photos (the format iPhones use) into the widely compatible JPG format. It is built for speed and privacy: everything runs inside your own web browser, so your photos are never uploaded to a server.

Why we built it

HEIC gives you great quality in small files, but not every app, website or older device can open it — Windows PCs and Android phones often cannot. If a website rejects your HEIC photo, or a photo editor refuses to open it, converting to JPG is the quickest fix. We wanted a converter that just works — no sign-up, no watermark, no file-size limits, and no waiting for an upload.

How it stays private

Read the full details in our Privacy Policy.

How it works

Your browser cannot open HEIC on its own, so the converter downloads a small, open-source HEIC decoder (compiled to WebAssembly) the first time you use it. That decoder turns your photo into pixels locally; the converter then draws the result onto a hidden canvas (with a white background, because JPG does not support transparency) and exports it as a JPG at the quality you choose. The photo itself never leaves your device.
